Senior Software Engineer and Technology Consultant, Visionlearning, New York City, N.Y., June 2002 thru present

As the technical consultant for this project I transformed a static HTML site into a custom user based content management system (CMS) for the writing, publishing and management of learning modules created by leading faculty and authors around the world. The site facilitates dynamic MyClassrooms creation by teachers and faculty to include the learning modules and other digital resources to enhance their standard curriculum. The project has been built on the Open Source LAMP stack. The Visionlearning web site includes a helpdesk, calendar, back up, publishing and media management services, all of which have been written to meet the specific needs of this NSF funded education project. We also designed and produced an iOS app for the Visionlearning glossary.

Senior Software Engineer and System Administrator, ThinkQuest For Tomorrow's Teachers, Armonk, N.Y., June 2000 thru December 2003

My duties included all software development and system administration for the ThinkQuest for Tomorrow's Teachers program. The web site and all applications are built using PHP and MySQL. This three year grant (2001-2003) from the federal government's PT3 program teaches faculty and students from some of the leading education colleges and universities about web development and how to integrate the ThinkQuest Guiding Partner model into their classrooms once they graduate and become teachers.

Senior Web Developer and System Administrator, Advanced Network & Services / ThinkQuest, Inc., Armonk, N.Y., November 1999 thru December 2002

My main focus with Advanced Network & Services was a complete overhaul of the ThinkQuest web application. This included a full redesign of the ThinkQuest web site, including transitioning from MySQL to an Oracle database to manage multiple international, multilingual web development contests servicing a community of over one hundred thousand users. The applications included a private messaging system, the ThinkQuest TeamMaker application, real-time server account creation, contest administration, helpdesk facilities and a judging system.

I also developed a distributable version of the web development education and contest called the ThinkQuest Environment (TQE), for our partners to install and run local ThinkQuest-like contests. The TQE served as the basis for ThinkQuest Africa, ThinkQuest For Tomorrow's Teachers and ThinkQuest New York City.

In 2003 the ThinkQuest Internet Challenge, including web application and library, was transferred to the Oracle Foundation, Help Us Help Them, from Advanced Network & Services.

Duties also included communicating with and providing solutions for program managers locally and around the world, as well as managing a staff of developers, interns and outside designers.

Senior Software Engineer, OnLine Voice, Video & Data, Inc., Purchase, N.Y., July 1997 thru November 1999

Accomplishments include the creation of three e-commerce web sites delivering products on a pay-per-download and a physical fulfillment basis. The product lines ranged from the Ingram Micro computer hardware and software to the Baker & Taylor music and video media catalog and the full Muze Audio/Video catalog of related materials. These projects were OnlineVideoDirect, OnLinePCDirect and Burn-one. Burn-one offered all CD's, VHS and DVD's in the Baker & Taylor catalog, as well as music the company produced. This evolved into a complete extranet of management services for nightclubs around the country, to capture live performances, both audio and video, as well as performer's information to facilitate immediate publication and distribution.
